Testing standards. Protecting programs. Proving integrity.
Blue Obsidian helps government programs and businesses of every size verify that the standards they set are the standards being met, through anonymous field evaluations and clear, executive-ready reporting.
What we test
Every engagement is built on a consistent protocol, trained field evaluators, and reporting clear enough to act on the day it lands.
Mystery shopping programs
Anonymous, structured evaluations of the experience your customers actually receive, across one location or a hundred, designed by people who know what strong field programs look like.
ID-check and age-verification audits
Discreet audits of whether your staff consistently request and check identification, giving you the training signal before a regulator finds the gap first.
Rider and site evaluations
Anonymous evaluation of transit systems and public-facing operations: rider experience, operator conduct, accessibility, cleanliness, safety and site condition.
Readiness reviews and mock audits
Structured walk-throughs of your locations against the standards your program is measured on, so nothing about the real inspection is a surprise.
Franchise and multi-site audits
Structured evaluations across store networks, franchises and service locations, measuring whether the standard on paper is the standard in the field.
Executive-ready reporting
Consistent scoring, structured findings and trend views across locations and time, written so leadership can decide and act the same week.
Where the truth lives
Standards are written in offices. They succeed or fail at platforms, counters and doorways. That is where we work.
Trained eyes, careful notes.
Riding the system your riders ride.
Great service at 2 p.m. What about 2 a.m.?
A standard is only as strong as the last time someone tested it.
Policies, training and signage set expectations. Field evaluation tells you the truth. We provide that truth quietly, professionally and in a form you can act on.
How we work
Four stages, in order, every time. Findings are only as strong as the protocol that produced them.
Define the standard
We scope what matters, define what good looks like and build an evaluation protocol before anyone enters the field.
Evaluate in the field
Trained, vetted evaluators complete assignments anonymously or announced, with consistent methodology across every location and visit.
Capture the detail
Every observation is recorded with discipline: timestamps, structured notes and consistent scoring, not anecdotes.
Report and debrief
Findings arrive ready for the boardroom, with clear scoring, plain-language recommendations and a walkthrough for your leadership.
Built by insiders. Made for partners.
Blue Obsidian was founded by professionals who spent their careers inside federal and state agencies, building and overseeing the very standards organizations are now measured against. We know what a strong field program looks like because we used to be the ones reviewing them. Today we put that perspective to work for our clients, with methods that are rigorous, field conduct that is respectful, and results that leadership can rely on.
The field, after hours. Where compliance is real or it is not.
Discretion
We do not publish client names or case details. Confidentiality is part of the product, and it protects your people as much as your organization.
Rigor
Our findings are built to professional standards, so what we report is what happened, documented consistently enough to compare across locations and time.
Partnership
We are not here to catch people. We are here to help organizations close the gap between the standard they set and the experience they deliver.
Fully insured and built for business. From a single storefront to a statewide program, our engagements scale to the size of the risk, not the size of the client.
Do work that matters, on your schedule.
Our field evaluators are observant, reliable people who take pride in doing things properly. Assignments are flexible, training is provided, and the work you do helps keep programs honest and communities safer. If that sounds like you, we would like to hear from you.
Join our field teamWhat clients ask us
How does an engagement start?
With a confidential conversation. You tell us the program, standard or experience you want measured, and we come back with a scoped approach, a timeline and a fixed price. Most engagements begin within weeks of that first call.
Will anyone know we are testing?
Only the people you choose. Anonymous evaluation is only useful if it stays anonymous, so programs are designed on a need-to-know basis, evaluators never disclose the client, and reporting goes directly to the leaders you designate. Discretion is part of the product.
What do we receive at the end?
A structured written report: what was evaluated, how it was evaluated, what was found, and the scoring behind every finding, prepared so leadership can decide and act on it immediately. We also walk your team through the findings and what to do about them.
What makes you different from other mystery shopping companies?
Our leadership spent their careers inside federal and state agencies designing and overseeing field programs, so our protocols are built with a discipline most evaluation firms have never seen: consistent methodology, structured scoring and reporting that leadership can act on. We operate lawfully, respectfully and fully insured.
What size organizations do you work with?
All of them. A single storefront protecting its license, a franchise network protecting its brand, or a public agency protecting a program. Engagements are scoped to the size of the risk, so smaller organizations are never priced like statewide programs.
How is pricing structured?
Fixed and scoped in advance. Depending on the engagement, pricing is set per location, per operation or per program, so you know the full cost before we begin. No hourly meters and no surprises.
